As a women-owned company, FineLine HR Consulting is especially proud to celebrate Women’s History Month. Each year, March is designated to celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and to recognize specific achievements that women have made in a variety of fields.
We want to take this time to recognize just a few American women who have made a difference in our country, and the world as a whole:
- Sojourner Truth (1797-1883) – abolitionist and women’s rights activist and first black woman to successfully sue and win the case against a white man.
- Susan B. Anthony (1820-1906) – social reformers and women’s right activist who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.
- Rosa Parks (1913-2005) – activist in the civil rights movement best known for her key role in the Montgomery bus boycott.
- Patsy Mink (1927-2002) – attorney and politician from Hawaii and the first woman of color elected to Congress.
- Sandra Day O’Connor (1930-) – attorney and politician and first woman associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1981 to 2006.
- Ellen Ochoa (1958-) – engineer, former astronaut and former director of the Johnson Space Center and first Hispanic woman to go into space in 1993.
