Veterans Day, observed on November 11, is an important day set aside to thank and honor those who served –past and present—in the United States Armed Forces.
Employers should review their policies and practices to ensure compliance with federal laws (e.g., the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and the Military Family Leave portions of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)) as well as state laws and/or local ordinances that may apply. In general, these laws prohibit discrimination and harassment of veterans in employment decisions, require reinstatement of uniformed service members returning from military leave, and grant leaves of absence for military members, their families and caregivers in certain instances.
FineLine HR thanks all veterans for their service and contributions to our national security.
